Postdoc Stellen an der MedUni Wien

By Monika Trebo | April 28, 2015

  1. Position for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Special Research Program - SFB-54 "Cellular Mediators Linking Inflammation and Thrombosis" (http://inthro.meduniwien.ac.at/).

In February 2014 a new Special Research Program has been launched at the Medical University Vienna financed by the Austrian Science Fund.
After our successful start and the recruitment of 4 postdoctoral fellows and 16 PhD students, we can now employ another postdoc for a period of up to 3 years. The program is a network of ten research groups with a planned duration of eight years and an intermediate evaluation after 4 years.
The research groups currently comprise about 65 scientists, who work synergistically to build up a professional research network linking basic research with clinical science. We are looking for highly motivated candidates with a strong background in life sciences. Prior experience in vascular and endothelial cell biology is advantageous, as well as experience with transgenic mouse models. The candidates should have excellent written and oral communication skills (English), and ability to work independently as well as in collaborative research efforts. Our consortium has extensive worldwide contacts, which will be made available for our young scientists to gain international experience for a period of 3 – 6 months during their projects.
The groups are located at the Medical University Vienna, in the new “Anna Spiegel” building; the labs of the General Hospital Vienna; and the preclinical campus (Schwarzspanierstr./ Währingerstr.), providing the entire infrastructure required for professional biomedical research including core facilities for imaging, flow cytometry, genomics and proteomics. The specific position will be located at the Dept. of Vascular Biology and Thrombosis Research, Schwarzspanierstr. 17, Physiology building, in a newly renovated wing of the building.
Applications are welcome for a structured recruitment process by downloading the respective application form on the website: http://inthro.meduniwien.ac.at/schnellinfo/job-offers/ and sending the completed form to our project manager: Dr. Helga Badelt-Lichtblau (helga.badelt-lichtblau at meduniwien.ac.at)

  2. Position for a Postdoctoral Fellow for the project: “Dynamics of molecular interactions in live cells” funded by the Austrian Science Funds (FWF) in the group of Johannes A. Schmid http://www.meduniwien.ac.at/user/johannes.schmid/

Prior experience with confocal laser scanning microscopy, as well as the CRISPR/Cas9 technology is advantageous. The candidates should have excellent written and oral communication skills (English), and ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team. The group is located at the preclinical campus (Schwarzspanierstr. 17; Physiology building, in a newly renovated wing) and provides the entire infrastructure required for the project.
