Marc Kerenyi studied Molecular Biology at the University of Vienna. After receiving his doctorate in Natural Sciences he became a Research Fellow at the Children's Hospital Boston and Dana Farber Cancer Center of the Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Kerenyi is currently working in the Division of Hematology/ Oncology and his research focuses on the function of histone demethylases in hematopoiesis. He recently developed an animal model which lacks a specific histone demethylase, that is frequently mutated in human multiple myeloma. Dr. Kerenyi is currently studying how loss of this enzyme contributes to the pathogenesis of of multiple myeloma. Ultimately, his studies may provide new diagnostic tools and treatment options for this devastating disease.
